Kapoho Bay

Though not at all a typical tourist center, there are alot of things to do. The Bay is great for kayaking, surfing, snorkling and has excellent shore fishing. There is a walking trail along the ocean. Dramatically beautiful with many safe and easy accesses to the bay and ponds, this area has NO traditional white sandy beaches.

Venturing beyond Kapoho Bay

Just a 50 minute drive from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park offers amazing adventure. Get the latest up-to-date information from the USGS on how and where the lava is flowing.

Kapoho Bay

A few minutes away.......

The Champagne Pond is a treasure of Kapoho Bay and just down the block. It is geothermally heated fresh water mixing with the open ocean and numerous tropical fish and green sea turtles come in and out with the tides. The water is calm, clear and about 87 degrees, perfect for snorkeling, swimming and relaxing. Be sure and bring one of those inexpenseive disposible underwater cameras if you want photos of the sea turtles.
