THese are the people that keep our beloved ranch running!
Erika Kuhr
Managing Member & Lead Chef

Erika Kuhr, Managing Member and Lead Chef of Starseed Ranch, brings nearly two decades of experience in regenerative farming, culinary arts, education, and nonprofit leadership to her work. Based in North Kohala, Hawaiʻi, she integrates whole-food cooking, herbal traditions, and land stewardship into a farm-based enterprise rooted in nourishment and community resilience.

Erika holds a B.S. in Food and Nutrition Sciences from San Diego State University and is Co-Founder and Co-Director of Hawaiʻi Institute of Pacific Agriculture (HIP Ag), which she has helped grow into a thriving nonprofit with strong financial and programmatic systems. As an educator, she is passionate about teaching cooking and nutrition to both youth and adults, sharing practical skills that empower families and strengthen local food systems. A farmer, chef, mentor, and mother of three raised on the land, she is committed to cultivating healthy communities from soil to table.

Dash Kuhr
Owner, Lead Steward & Farmer

Dash is an educator, farmer, and land steward with over 20 years of experience in hands-on, experiential learning. He has guided countless groups through immersive farm-based education, teaching regenerative agriculture, orchard care, composting, and ecological stewardship. His approach centers on learning by doing — reconnecting people to soil, food, and the rhythms of the land.

He also loves sharing spiritual teachings and simple daily practices that help reduce negative thinking, cultivate presence, and restore inner balance. Through farm walks, shared meals, and reflective circles, he invites guests to reconnect — to nature, to community, and to themselves.

Dash, father of three and husband to Erika (our resident lead chef), takes great pride in stewarding the incredibly sacred land at Starseed. During your stay, you may find him cruising the farm by tractor, harvesting fresh coconuts, leading a farm tour, or enjoying this beautiful place with this family.

Rylie Boodjeh
Reservations & Retreats, Resident Healer

Rylie first came to Starseed Ranch during a beautifully aligned work exchange in 2020. The experience became an initiator for many of the paths she would go on to explore and grow through. After that time on the land, she continued collaborating in retreat and hospitality spaces while learning from sustainable and off-grid communities devoted to intentional living.. Along the way, she carried the spirit of aloha with her—embodying it, remembering it, and sharing it wherever she went. She now returns to Starseed Ranch in a full-circle moment, bringing back the experience and offerings she gathered along the way.

Through her work, Rylie has led programs centered on personal and professional growth while supporting retreat operations and guest experiences. She brings leadership and management experience within retreat and hospitality environments, along with a background in yoga and holistic wellness practices. As a Reiki Master with continued studies in yoga, herbal traditions, land-based healing practices, and more, she offers both group experiences and individual healing.

At Starseed Ranch, Rylie stewards reservations and retreats while supporting the rhythm of life on the land. As Resident Healer and Educator, she offers individual and group healing sessions, with support of the welcoming and restorative spirit of Starseed Ranch. She also occasionally hosts her own retreats and experiences. Guests may find her greeting them with a warm aloha and bright smile, assisting retreat hosts, coordinating stays, and sharing in the peaceful rhythm that makes Starseed Ranch such a special place. She feels grateful to help cultivate the grounding magic of Starseed Ranch and share the sense of connection it offers those who arrive.

Kylie Legler
Operations & Guest Services

Kylie serves as the Operations Manager and Guest Services Coordinator at Starseed Ranch. She takes pride in creating exceptional guest experiences and ensuring every visitor feels welcomed, comfortable, and supported throughout their stay.

With a strong attention to detail, Kylie helps maintain a clean and peaceful environment so guests can fully relax and enjoy their stay or retreat experience. Her dedication to hospitality and care for the space helps create the warm and inviting atmosphere that makes Starseed Ranch feel like home.

When not at work, Kylie enjoys spending time in the ocean—either paddling competitively and traveling to the outer islands for races, or surfing and fishing. She also values time spent with family, embracing the ocean lifestyle and the natural beauty that makes Hawaiʻi Island such a special place to live and work.

Our 'Ohana

Working at Starseed Ranch means becoming part of something deeper than a job—it's an invitation to steward sacred land, nurture transformational experiences, and live in rhythm with regenerative practices that heal both earth and community.

Our team supports the daily flow of a working off-grid ranch and boutique eco-retreat, creating space for guests to slow down, reconnect with the land, and remember what truly matters. Throughout the year, roles span from hands-on garden stewardship and land care to hospitality positions supporting farm-to-table meals, accommodations, and immersive retreat programming. Whether you're harvesting herbs at sunrise, welcoming guests with aloha, or helping bring Farm to Table magic to life, every contribution honors this place and the people who visit.

If you feel called to this work, we'd love to hear your story. Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter to INFO@STARSEEDRANCH.COM, sharing what draws you to the ranch and regenerative living.

Volunteer & Extended Stay Opportunities

For those seeking a deeper immersion into regenerative farm life, we occasionally welcome volunteers and extended-stay participants to join us on the land. These meaningful exchanges offer the chance to live and work alongside our team—learning the rhythms of off-grid homesteading, permaculture practices, and the daily care that sustains a working farm and retreat center.

What We Offer: In exchange for your time and energy supporting our orchards, gardens, and farm operations, we provide accommodation in a private hale or glamping tent, plus access to shared amenities including our outdoor kitchen, bathhouse, and the natural beauty of our 26-acre sanctuary.

What You'll Gain: This is more than volunteering—it's an opportunity to cultivate hands-on skills in regenerative agriculture, deepen your understanding of sustainable living systems, and experience what it truly means to steward the land. Whether you're considering a farming future, seeking a transformative pause, or simply curious about off-grid life, extended stays at Starseed Ranch offer invaluable insight and connection.

Duration: Typically several weeks to several months, depending on the season and mutual fit.
